Mole Valley District Council
Dorking, Surrey
£1.2m
This estate of approximately 40 houses in Dorking, Surrey was constructed in an age when space requirements for modern kitchen appliances and equipment were very much less than the modern ideal.
Driven by the government’s Decent Home initiative, our client wished to significantly improve the standard accommodation for its residents and initially appointed WCJ to examine options for improving the provision of bathrooms and kitchens.
It was quickly established that scope for improving provision within the existing properties would be very limited. With constraints imposed by a tight budget it was established that the best approach would be to construct small extensions at the rear of each property to accommodate bathrooms, thereby releasing valuable space for kitchen/dining rooms.
WCJ Ltd were appointed from inception through to completion and services provided included an initial examination of feasibility, preparation and submission of details for statutory approvals, coordinated detailed design and works specification, project management, contract administration and CDM Coordinator services.
