Cumberland House is a five storey reinforced concrete framed office building, designed by architects R Seifert & Partners and built in 1972.
WCJ Ltd were initially appointed to undertake specialist investigations into the nature of existing construction and provide advice on the adequacy of the structure to support additional office accommodation at roof level.
Our investigations indicated that the capacity of the existing structure was indeed sufficient. We were subsequently appointed to provide structural engineering consultancy services to substantiate the adequacy of the existing structure by calculation and to prepare detailed structural design information for the construction of new office accommodation at roof level, complete with a new steel fire escape and steel framed canopy over the main entrance.
