Wyatt Carruthers Jebb were appointed to investigate significant cracking to a domestic building in Amersham. It was found that the cracking was a consequence of subsidence. Ground investigations were undertaken and it was identified that the cause of the subsidence was the presence of sink holes.
Remediation works comprised of compaction grouting beneath the building to provide a stable substrata, new reinforced foundations designed by our specialist structural engineers, demolition and reconstruction of the external walls and replacement of concrete floor slabs. Owing to the extent of the damage and remedial works required, the kitchen and bathroom fittings were stripped out and replaced and the property was re-decorated. A new soakaway was constructed a significant distance from the building to mitigate a repeat event.
