Established in 1990, Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd evolved from a professional relationship that has existed between its founding Directors since 1975. Our mission at Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd is to provide an efficient, cost-effective service tailored to meet each individual clients’ requirements.
BSc CEng MICE FIStructE
John Wyatt graduated from Loughborough University in 1974 and was presented with a Class Award from the ICE. In his early years John worked for several contractors including a short spell with British Rail in the Bridge Engineering department.
Moving into Consulting he rose to the position of director in a firm of consulting civil and structural engineers before setting up Wyatt Carruthers Jebb in 1990.
He has developed considerable experience in commercial work together with the development of the Forensic Engineering team within Wyatt Carruthers Jebb, analysing and correcting building failures.
He has an eclectic taste in music and the theatre and has been seen haunting dingy jazz clubs, The Royal Opera House and wandering lost at music festivals.
BSc (Hons) MRICS
Nick Cowle has been working as a building surveyor since 1994. Nick started his career in housing maintenance before moving to the private sector in 2001, becoming Chartered in 2004. Nick joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb in 2007 and became a Director of the firm in 2014.
Nick specialises in the investigation of building defects with particular specialist interest in the causes of structural damp, planning and building control applications, design, specification and contract administration. He also acts for both Landlords and Tenants in dilapidations matters and acts as a Party Wall Surveyor. More recently Nick has been working with High Risk Buildings and has delivered training on HRBs and changes in legislation.
Outside of work Nick is learning to speak Spanish and can sometimes be heard annoying his neighbours with his electric guitar.
IEng AMIStructE MPTS MFPWS
Having worked as a Structural Engineering Technician since 1977, Tony Smith joined the Institution of Structural Engineers as Student Member in 1984 and became Associate Member of Engineering Council in 1986.
Tony joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd in 2006 as Associate of the Company and was promoted to Director in 2020.
Tony has many years of experience designing structures for historic, listed, domestic, commercial and new buildings and has also acted as Party Wall Surveyor since 1995, becoming Member of Pyramus & Thisbe Society in 2005 and Member of Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors in 2013.
When he’s not working, Tony is working on his golf swing much as possible.
MEng (Hons) AIStructE
Jonathan has worked for Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd for more than 20 years, initially part time and then full time upon graduation. Jonathan has risen to the level of Associate within the practice due to his experience with the company from grass roots level. He runs many structural engineering projects, and provides mentoring to more junior members of staff.
Jonathan is an Associate of the IStructE and is working towards full Chartered status. He is a Director of Wyatt Carruthers Jebb's in-house forensic site investigation company Invetech.
MSc (Eng)
Jade completed her degree in Civil Engineering with masters in 2008 and joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb as a graduate in 2010. Her extensive experience gained whilst working with the organisation, on-site and with Clients, earned her the promoted position of Associate in 2020.
Jade enjoys running for relaxation, especially when her dog joins her.
Beverly joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd at its inception in 1990.
Beverly is responsible for day-to-day financial matters, including the management of Company and Client bank accounts, and the processing of invoices. She assists with the preparation of quarterly management and annual audited accounts and deals with queries raised by external institutional bodies.
Beverly has been a keen gardener for many years and enjoys seeding and planting new and developed gardens in her spare time.
BA (Hons) MA MSc
Lucy started her career in construction working within Leasehold departments of Housing Associations. Lucy graduated with a Masters in Building Surveying and worked as a building surveyor with Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd from 2012, before moving into business development in 2020.
Lucy manages the Company’s compliance, QA, and H&S systems. She also manages HR, marketing initiatives and reviews company policies.
Lucy has a passion for travel and enjoys finding different ways to backpack around the world using only public transport!
BSc CEng MICE
Peter is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 40 years’ experience as a Civil / Structural Engineer and multi-disciplinary Project Manager. He has worked on large industrial power, water and infrastructure projects to small / medium sized works such as retaining walls, reinstatement of fire damaged properties, subsidence, structural steelwork and repairs to deteriorated concrete structures.
These roles included risk analysis, CDM procedures, tendering and tender assessment, health and safety, quality management, contract administration and analysis of claims.
Peter joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb in 2020 after working for international Consulting Engineers since graduation.
Outside work, Peter enjoys travel, sport and gardening.
BSc (Eng)
Wojciech Kowalczyk earned a degree in Civil Engineering with a Major in Structural Engineering from the Silesian University of Technology in 2021.
Wojciech joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb in 2022 as a Graduate Structural Engineer, managing many of his own smaller projects and working alongside the Senior Engineers on larger project work.
Outside the office Wojciech can often be found fixing the chain on his bike!
HND
Alex graduated from Yaba College of Technology in 1993 with an HND in Structural Engineering. He joined the Institution of Structural Engineers as a student member in 2011, aspiring to become an Associate member of the IStructE, and joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb Ltd as a Structural Engineer in 2023.
With 39 years of active experience in site/construction engineer in oil industry, he has worked on various structural facilities in oil industry, including oil depots for Texaco Nigeria, Total Oil, and Marca Oil etc. After moving to the UK in 2007, he gained extensive experience in designing detailing structural members for new build, basements, domestic properties, reconfiguration of domestic properties and commercial buildings such as hotels, pubs and inns.
In his free time, Alex likes to play chess and unwind to country music and jazz, with favourite artists being Kenny Rogers, Don Williams, Kenny G, and Sadao Watanabe.
BA (Hons)
Karan holds two degrees from Sheffield Hallam and The University of Derby in Urban and Land Economics and Architectural Technology respectively.
Karan joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb in 2022 after spending over a decade being self-employed.
Recreationally, Karan has a passion for music, art, & languages and is a keen footballer.
Jackie joined WCJ in 2021 as Team Admin Assistant and PA to the Managing Director.
Jackie enjoys walks with Charlie the cockapoo in the Surrey Hills area or the occasional bike ride (sometimes cheating with an e-bike!).
Karen joined Wyatt Carruthers Jebb in 2023 as Team Admin Assistant.
Prior to working at WCJ Karen was awarded BSc (Hons) and MSc in Applied Biology and Environmental Science and worked in various industries including hospital, operations, automotive and construction.
Outside of work Karen enjoys keeping fit doing CrossFit, and high intensity training.
